ATV BELT HEALS SELF Goodyear’s new Gatorback Sport ATV drive belt is the first CVT belt with carbon fiber reinforcement in its rubber compound. When handling an extreme load demand, the carbon fiber allows desired slippage on pulleys without top-width belt distortion. After the extreme demand subsides, the carbon material restores the integrity of belt edges in order to handle the normal load demand.

GOODYEAR AUTO HEATER HOSE BENDS RULES Goodyear Engineered Products has introduced E-Z Coil, a metal coil that bends Goodyear's straight heater hose to create configurations that meet more than 26,000 part applications. E-Z Coil allows auto part retailers to reduce their stock and provide customers with more service options.

GOODYEAR-PHOENIX AGREEMENT An agreement between Goodyear Engineered Products and Phoenix Automotive GmbH doubles the number of facilities each can use to produce coolant hose, including radiator hose shown here. The agreement helps the companies expand their presence to support auto manufacturers for global car platform production.

KEEPING IT COOL Goodyear's Galaxy 4890 SLE, a super-low emission automotive air-conditioning hose, reduces 134a refrigerant gas permeation when compared to other transportation hose. It can help auto manufacturers avoid costly, alternate automotive air-conditioning systems that conform to the United Nations 1997 Kyoto Protocol guidelines, which established further refrigerant gas emission reductions.

PRECISE TIMING The new Goodyear Gatorback timing belt, developed specifically for NASCAR racing, enhances engine performance by using less energy and operating engine components more efficiently. The belt is constructed with a new heat resistant compound that withstands temperatures of 300-degrees Fahrenheit and displays excellent wear characteristics. The belt cord is made with high-tensile-strength glass fiber, which is 60 percent stronger than glass cord used in conventional belts. Crew chiefs and race teams alike are taking advantage of the energy-savings by redistributing power to other car components.
